DEVELOPMENTS
- In the opener, the challenging Rascalz get five separate counts to the second half of 2, mostly through rollups, but none are enough to put Dax away. Cash slides in when Zach goes for a back handspring attack on Dax and they take him out with the Shatter Machine.
- MARK BRISCOE meets FTR on the stage ahead of his scheduled commentary time. He tries to show them a little respect but they just kind of look put off by him. They're using a pre-Death Riders render of Danny Garcia on this graphic.
- Resident cuck ANTHONY BOWENS has tracked down HOOK backstage. He says that after what Hook said last week, he's come to the conclusion that he can be a killer. Apparently KATSUYORI SHIBATA is filming this segment with a production camera and Hook tells Bowens to take it from him and follow them. There's a dude standing nearby, Hook asks him if he wrestles and if he wants to be in The Opps and then puts him in REDRUM and puts him to sleep. They keep walking. I guess we'll see what that's about later.
- Danny comes up to Mark Briscoe on commentary late in this match and tells him "that TNT title ain't been shit since I lost it" before shoving Briscoe. Ciampa rolls him up in the ring for 2. Garcia reverses a whip and Ciampa runs right into Briscoe trying to climb onto the apron and they both eat shit. Garcia jackknifes Ciampa for the 3 count and immediately escapes through the crowd before Briscoe can track him down.
- Briscoe gets in the ring to apologize to Ciampa but Ciampa's not happy. Things start getting heated and Briscoe goes to shake Ciampa's hand but Ciampa's not having it. Briscoe leaves the ring but is repeatedly telling him to cool down. FTR are now back out here. Dax and Cash get in the ring and face off with Ciampa; Briscoe now gets back in to stand by his side. The two sides exchange words before leaving the ring together. Tommaso thanks Mark but tells him "I don't fucking need you" before throwing him into the stage fixtures and attacking him and crushing him with a bare running knee. He takes Briscoe's headband, spits on it, rubs it on his ass, and throws it down on him. FTR seem pleased.
- As expected, Swerve is targeting Gravity's mask in this match. He tears the front but never enough to expose his face before hitting the Swerve Stomp and House Call for a relatively low-effort win.
- After Dynamite, we hear from KRIS STATLANDER, who says she only speaks when she needs to. She and Thekla have each beaten the other once, but once is not enough--at Revolution, Kris Statlander vs. Thekla best two out of three falls to conclude the series for the women's world title.
- Now it's the THEKLA townhall. I'm gonna be totally honest--this segment is really bad and highlights all my issues with Thekla's character, especially pertaining to how it clashes with how her branding would lead me to perceive her. Her presentation--tron, theme song, logo, everything--wants to portray her as this cold, heartless killer who doesn't care about anything but causing pain; then, she comes out, and she's, for lack of a better word, catty. The crowd is confused for most of this three-minute segment. All she does is say "no, I won't do this match because the challenger doesn't get to make the stipulation," immediately turns back around and says "actually, I will do this match because you can't beat me twice," and then says that Kris has started wearing shades because she can't look Thekla in the eye and that she's started wearing leather because she wants to be like her. "Everything you're afraid of is everything I am" is a good closing line but it was an extremely meandering segment where the crowd doesn't really know how to react. She's also wearing a biker jacket that says, in quotes, "BIKER" on the sleeve.
- DALTON CASTLE joins Tony and Nigel on comms for the $200,000 4-way tag. He says he buttered up each square inch of each bicep on all four arms of The Outrunners.
- Lexy Nair backstage with JETSPEED. Kevin tells her Wednesday was one of the hardest nights of his career. Speedball isn't letting him feel like it was his fault they lost the belts, and at Revolution, they join forces with Místico to get the titles back. He adds that he's beaten Kyle Fletcher before, and on Wednesday, he'll do it again. Here comes SWERVE STRICKLAND with PRINCE NANA. Swerve's getting in Kevin's face; he tells him that if he wants to walk amongst and compete against killers, he needs to become a killer. He and Nana stare at Speedball for a moment before leaving.
- Renee Paquette backstage earlier with the BABES OF WRATH. They are immediately jumped by MEGAN BAYNE and LENA KROSS and go for the GOA finisher on Harley before Willow is able to break her loose. They still stand tall before security breaks it up.
- Mina puts Megan in a Figure Four leglock. After Megan rolls over to reverse it, Toni and Lena trade coming in and just rolling their partner back over to get the upper hand. Eventually Lena just drops a senton on Mina. While the referee is reprimanding Kross, MARINA SHAFIR arrives and pulls Toni off the apron. The brawl goes under the apron and Mina gets hung out to dry. Lena pins her off a Jackhammer.
- MARK BRISCOE backstage. He says that for as long as Tommaso Ciampa's been in AEW, something hasn't felt right about him. When he jumped Briscoe tonight, that, he says, was the Tommaso he was expecting. He blames himself for not trusting his own instincts and letting his guard down but calls Ciampa a coward for aligning himself with FTR. He says he just got off the phone with the Young Bucks and on Dynamite, it's "Dem Bucks" against FTR and Ciampa.
- TONI STORM is back out here after the break following The Dogs' trios match and she's got words for Marina Shafir. She asks that if all Marina and the Death Riders do is talk about "competition," why is it that the only one willing to fight alone is Jon Moxley? She wants a match with Marina with everyone banned from ringside, and afterwards she wants her title back.
- We get a recap of Friday night at CMLL in Arena México, where PERSEPHONE beat MERCEDES MONÉ to claim the CMLL World Women's Championship. She'll challenge Willow Nightingale for the TBS Championship on Dynamite.
- JON MOXLEY on commentary for the main. Nigel McGuinness repeats a quote from Moxley earlier during a snippet of his CloseUp interview with Renee saying that he's well aware Takeshita is capable of beating him. Moxley responds, "if you go into the woods, you know, there's grizzly bears. And you know they can eat you, you know? You gotta be a realist." Okay.
- Claudio late in this match is just throwing chairs into the ring to distract Rick Knox the referee. His real plan is to use his CMLL belt to clock Takeshita with the ref occupied, but HECHICERO is here at ringside to take it away from him. Takeshita lays out Castagnoli with a Tope Atómico. He gets the Power Drive knee in the ring but Claudio gets the shoulder up. Takeshita goes for another with his kneepad down but eats an uppercut. Claudio tries for the Neutralizer but gets back body dropped. He continues attacking the left arm of Takeshita and then they spend the next like 15 seconds just trying to call spots. I think they might have forgotten the finish lol
- Claudio goes for the Ricola Bomb, Takeshita rolls through, lands a knee and wins off Raging Fire. Takeshita escapes, but not unscathed--his left arm took a beating in this one. He and Moxley stand off and trade words after the match, but Hechicero jumps Moxley. Takeshita tells him to fuck off because he doesn't need his help, but Moxley's not having this. It's a two-on-two brawl as referees struggle to break this one apart.
