DEVELOPMENTS

  • After Double or Nothing, Renee Paquette meets WILL OSPREAY backstage. She congratulates him on the win and he says his neck feels fantastic. He's heading to the trainer's room to ice his bicep. He sees KENNY OMEGA there, who wants to talk to him about his association with the Death Riders and Will looks taken aback by this. "My worry is that you can't trust those guys," he says. "You come back from a career-threatening injury, you had me by your side. I would do anything for you, Will. For you to realize your dream of being champion? There's nothing I wouldn't do--why didn't you ask for me? It would have been so easy for me to help you, Will."
    • Will retorts: "For sure, it would've been, if you showed up. Mate, with all due respect, you're not here." "I can't be here every week, Will." "Why not? This is the 'best that Kenny Omega's ever felt' for a while so why aren't you here, man?" Kenny says he lost his chance, presumably at the world title, and he can't rebound the way he used to, be it physically, mentally, or emotionally. "Again, I get the appeal to the Death Riders. They're serious. They mean business. They get the job done, so I'm not saying don't trust them... what I'm saying is be careful, as a friend."
    • JON MOXLEY walks into the room as Kenny says this. "It's good advice. We all... have our... skeletons. Don't we?" Kenny mutters, "yeah, don't we all?" Moxley hands Ospreay the ice pack he had set to the side, telling him the Death Riders truck is outside. "Look, I'll, uh... I'll leave you two to do your neck bridges or whatever it is that Death Riders do, but, hey--for real, anytime, call me." Kenny leaves, and Ospreay tells him not to give up on the world title.
  • Here comes the Jet. KEVIN KNIGHT is met with loud boos as he comes out looking literally exactly like The Rock. I mean, he's got the mannerisms, he's got the outfit, this literally is just prime Rock. It's unbelievable.
    • It's hard for Kevin to so much as get a word in over the "FUCK YOU, KEVIN" chants and the booing. "You know, I shouldn't expect anything less from you meathead sickos," he says. "Y'all gonna give some respect to The Jet when I got the mic, you hear me?" Knight shouts over "SHUT THE FUCK UP" chants. Kevin's here to explain his attack on Darby Allin. "I told Darby Allin not to let The Jet down. I told him not to let you people down! And guess what he did? He blew it." The crowd is now chanting "ASSHOLE" at Kevin. "Darby Allin blew it. Just like the Sixers did against the Knicks: he let us all down. Philly, I'm--I'm with y'all! I'm on your side! He let us all down." Kevin says he did what he had to do. "Who was the last person that MJF was looking up at? Who was the last person that humbled MJF? Me. The Jet."
    • Kevin thinks he should have had the main event at Double or Nothing, but instead he was in the back. "Do I look like a bench player to y'all? Am I not a highlight each and every time I step in this ring?" "I'm not here just to take part in AEW. I'm here to take over this whole damn company." [...] "When I first got here in this business, Darby Allin told me, 'don't waste any time.' So when I saw that he couldn't get the job done, I came out there, and I didn't waste any time leaving him in a pool of his own blood with The Jet standing right there on top of him."
    • SPEEDBALL MIKE BAILEY's entrance hits, and they're walking with purpose down to the ring. "Kevin, I hear what you're saying, but I know you. I know how ambitious you are, and that's your best and your worst quality. The reason we work so well as a team is because we both want to be the best. But Kevin, you're impatient. You get ahead of yourself. And you make mistakes. And what you did to Darby Allin at Double or Nothing? That was a mistake. But we can fix this. If you apologize and own up to what you did, we can make things right." Speedball holds their hand out, saying "be a man. Own up to what you did. You know it's messed up. Do the right thing," and Kevin's considering this. He goes to take Speedball's hand but instead just shoulder checks and walks past them before suddenly turning around and decking them with the microphone. Kevin's got the same reaction he had after he attacked Darby. He goes to leave the ring, but changes his mind, instead grabbing Speedball by the wrist and hitting the craziest fucking Rock Bottom ever.
  • Renee Paquette is backstage with THE DEMAND. She tells him he's beaten Jericho twice with the Rico-sault, but at Stadium Stampede, Jericho got the pin off the Lionsault. Ricochet says he's not concerned with Jericho and that he got lucky at Double or Nothing. Bishop Kaun interjects and says that he won because the opposing team mugged him 7-to-1. Toa says it's a travesty that he and Bishop can't come to ringside tonight. Ricochet tells Jericho that it's not that he doesn't have his guys, it's that Jericho doesn't have six other guys to save his ass when he has him beat.
  • Jericho beats Ricochet with a string of a Codebreaker, Judas Effect, and Lionsault unanswered. His post-match celebration is interrupted by TOMMASO CIAMPA rushing the ring and attacking him from behind. Ciampa chokes him out and beats him down before hitting him with his signature running knee.
  • The IWGP Global Heavyweight Champion ANDRADE EL ÍDOLO is backstage. He says that now that the Stadium Stampede is over, he can focus on the world title. "MJF, do you think you are better than a real Latino man?... How you know?"
  • This 4-way match is happening just because. I'm not sure any of these guys necessarily need the money but we're working. Lio Rush is still a freak.
    • Orange doesn't really know what to make of Lio, and frankly he doesn't really want to touch him.
    • Late in this match, Orange hits a tope tornado DDT on Brian Cage. Suddenly, LANCE ARCHER and ROCKY ROMERO come out of the crowd. It's a 4-way so there's no disqualifications. Orange wipes out Rocky and Lance but suddenly gets clobbered from behind by a returning JAKE SOMETHINGRODERICK STRONG and KYLE O'REILLY are here to brawl with them, including Brian Cage, all the way to the back. Lance basically kidnaps Orange. This 4-way match has effectively become a head-to-head affair between Lio Rush and RUSH.
    • RUSH has brought back the green wire to choke Lio with.
  • Renee Paquette is backstage with MJF. He's got the Triple B around his shoulder and is dragging the regular world title on the floor. He's wearing some fucked up shit. This interview is interrupted by KEVIN KNIGHT. Max says he wanted to thank Kevin for attacking Darby because he says he knows Kevin did it to show respect to the biggest star in the company. Kevin stops him as he tries to leave and tells him he didn't do anything because of MJF, he did it because Darby blew an opportunity that should have gone to him. He reminds Max that he still very much intends to dethrone him.
    • Kevin now runs into KYLE FLETCHER, who eyes the TNT title. DON CALLIS is here and the literal first thing he says when he sees a Black man is "so much young athleticism in one place" which you know really checks out for Don Callis. Don tells Kevin that if he ever wants to get serious about becoming "Jet Two Belts," he and Kyle are around.
  • Renee Paquette is backstage with the BRAWLING BIRDS. Jamie says her loss is water off a duck's back and reminds Renee that she did take Thekla's head off. She reaffirms that next time she will take the title. Alex Windsor has her quarterfinal match in the Owen next week against a wild card opponent, and she addresses Willow, saying that when she's back healthy, she's ready to throw down. Windsor says she's been preparing for this her entire career. She gasses up Will Ospreay as well.
  • It is time for the MJF townhall. He is being carried out on a palanquin and drops the normal world title belt in a garbage can. MJF says in the history of major promotions since the 1800s, only eight men have ever been three-time world champions at age 30 and tells the crowd they should feel fortunate to be witnessing it. He does the Rainmaker pose as a banner that says "3x World Champion" falls from the ceiling with confetti.
    • MARK BRISCOE's theme hits as he walks down to the ring and tears the banner down. "Friedman!... lookin' at you standin' here in this city... man, you like a stranger in a strange place... what I'm sayin' is you don't fit in here, Max. It's kinda like if a-if a *penguin* was wanderin' through the desert... and I'm not talkin' about one of those exotic South American beach penguins..." Mark says that some of the toughest people in the world are in Philadelphia, and Max sticks out like a sore thumb because tough he is not.
    • Briscoe reminds MJF that it wasn't long ago that he pinned him in the middle of the ring, and he wants a title shot. Max says no because AEW isn't just a sport, it's a business, and it's bad enough that an "emo freak" like Darby Allin "even sniffed" the title. Max says if Briscoe challenged for the title, it'd put the company out of business.
    • Max goes to leave but as he gets to the stage RUSH's tron hits. RUSH already wanted a world title match if Darby retained. "You are not a fighting champion!...a no eres, cabrón. And it's too funny that's a chicken farmer, but you? You're a chicken... SHIT!" RUSH says he's nearly beaten Max before, and he wants his title shot. Max says he agrees that if anyone's earned a title shot, it's RUSH, and he's more marketable than Mark Briscoe. RUSH will get his match on Dynamite next week.
  • JUNGLE JACK PERRY is in the Jurassic Express. He's 1-1 with Mark Davis, but the stakes are higher than ever because a world title shot in the line. LUCHASAURUS slams on the brakes in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, known colloquially as the Rocky Steps, and wants Jack to go climb them. This leads into a dramatic training montage with Luchasaurus as his trainer. Luchasaurus also drinks a cup full of egg yolks gross style.
  • Claudio and Brody beat the fuck out of each other. This match is like 95% strikes. Last minute or so, Brody picks up Claudio into powerslam position but Claudio slips out and uppercuts him in the back. A rolling lariat from Brody is intercepted and Claudio uppercuts Brody's front. He ducks a line and springs back off the middle rope; Brody catches him and hits the ropes himself only for Claudio to nail him on a pop-up uppercut. Claudio's staggered, though, and Brody beasts it and wipes Claudio out on a meaty lariat to get the 3.
  • It is time for the CAGE & COPE townhall. Christian tells the crowd to sit down and shut up while he conducts business and Adam tells him to stop. "What did I say that was so bad, huh? What, it's not like I banged any of their mothers... actually, maybe I did." Christian straight up does not get why the things he says might be disapproved of by the crowd.
    • He addresses FTR, putting them over but reaffirming that they are, in fact, better than FTR. Adam says that FTR agreed to an "I Quit" match with two guys who, between them, were retired for a combined 16 years before getting their careers back. It's time for the 5-second pose, or at least Copeland says. Cage refuses so Adam rallies the crowd. Christian tells him that they don't even "make flash photography anymore" so Adam goes out and retrieves from under the ring a sack full of disposable cameras that he says he bought 20 years ago. He hands them out to the crowd and they're about to do the pose when CLARK CONNORS and DAVID FINLAY attack both of them. Finlay beats Christian's injured arm with the shillelagh before crushing it under the ring steps. David chokes out Edge with the shillelagh before Connors spears him. They then do their own five-second pose after Connors announces their intent to take the tag titles.
  • PRINCE NANA is backstage with SWERVE STRICKLAND. He tells us that Swerve is taking the Owen and going back to the main event at Wembley. Swerve congratulates Brody. He says he gets a sentimental feeling when he sees Brody succeed, because without Swerve, nobody would know Brody's name because he broke Brody into the industry in 2016. He says he doesn't care how Bandido's doing; all that matters is that millions of people watched what he did to him and couldn't look away. "One thing I learned about making money in this country, right: conflicts creates cash. War makes money. And Brody... I plan to make a lot of money with you."
  • We get a picture in picture pretape with DIVINE DOMINION during TAYJAY's entrance. "Welcome back. The clock is ticking: not for how long your match is, but to see how long we let you stay alive. Tick-tock, TayJay."
  • SPEEDBALL MIKE BAILEY is backstage. They say Kevin Knight made his choice: he heard what they had to say, they offered him their hand, and he attacked them in return. "Is that the road you wanna go down? Well, so be it. We can walk down it together, just on opposite sides. So how about me and you, one on one? You wanna show the world who you really are?"
  • Mark Davis knocks Jack Perry to the floor from the apron and is content to sit on the top turnbuckle and let Perry get counted out. This pisses Taz the fuck off because he's doing it in Philadelphia to the point where he takes off his headset and literally yells "STEALIN' MY GIMMICK!" directly at Davis.
    • This match gets three segments. Heading into the second break, Davis gourdbusters Perry as hard as he fucking can on the apron. The impact of Perry's legs against the ropes literally knocks his shoes off. Mark proceeds to take Jack's socks off and stomps on his bare feet repeatedly.
    • Perry gets Davis in a front guillotine on the top rope and proceeds to literally snap suplex him DDT-style from there. He's able to hit a piledriver on Davis for a 2.9. Perry also survives the rebound lariat at 2.9.
    • Perry's got Mark back up top but this time inadvertently crotches himself because he's not used to navigating the ropes shoeless. Davis uses this opportunity to kill Jack with a spinning piledriver off the second to win the match.
  • Renee Paquette gets in the ring with Mark and Don, who has something important to say. He reminds Will that he was in the Don Callis Family and thought he was the Chosen One. He never was, and neither was Konosuke Takeshita, he says. The only Chosen One in the Family is KYLE FLETCHER who is now here to make his entrance with ROCKY ROMERO
    • Kyle embraces Don as Rocky taunt spams and then shakes Davis's hand because he doesn't know what else to do. Kyle says he came back from his torn meniscus and twice-broken leg in under two months because he's a genetic anomaly. There was something else that pushed him to get healthy, though: he wanted to be the man to cut loose the dead weight of the Family.
    • "I have been trying to hold this family together for the better part of a year, when Konosuke Takeshita has tried to drive a wedge between us. And the second that I was out of the way, he did what he always does: what's best for him. You see, Konosuke Takeshita, he never cared about the Family. Takeshita never cared about me. And the sad thing is, I really wanted to sit atop the wrestling world alongside Takeshita! ProtoShita running the whole world! But now, that is never going to happen, because Konosuke Takeshita is a selfish PRICK."
    • KONOSUKE TAKESHITA's theme hits, and the new International Champion is here. Kyle is goading him on, but suddenly THE CONGLOMERATION--O'Reilly, Strong, Briscoe, and Cassidy--come out to back Takeshita up. They slowly walk to the ring and get in, promptly Fletcher, Romero, and Davis to vacate the ring. Takeshita grabs the microphone left behind and says he's got his title back. "Now... Kyle Fletcher... I... want... YOU!"
  • WILL OSPREAY is backstage ahead of his trios match with Moxley and PAC against the Rascalz. He congratulates Mark Davis on advancing to the semifinals. "Hey, our history is very well-documented. You was in the United Empire with me, you lived in my house for a year and didn't pay me any rent, but what's documented is you are the one guy who has [won] a match with a doctor's stoppage. That doesn't sit right with me, because I was at 50% when I wrestled you last. Now, baby, I'm a hundred percent, and there is nothing--I mean nothing--stopping me from going to Wembley Stadium, bruv!"
    • JON MOXLEY, PAC, and MARINA SHAFIR are now here. Mox is jumping. A likely thing for him to do. Mox fist bumps Ospreay, and Will offers the same to PAC, telling him good luck. Marina reaches over and intercepts the fist bump, but PAC doesn't take it, blowing him off. Ospreay fist bumps himself. The Death Riders turn and walk away, but Ospreay is right by the stage. "My entrance is this way, guys!"
    • If Ospreay never fully joins the Death Riders, it is going to be because he is far too extra to give up his entrance. Mox, PAC, and Marina still enter from the crowd.
  • Moxley and PAC hot start on Wentz and Reed and fight them to the floor. Ospreay is surprised by this, evidently unaware of the game plan, and he and Xavier go to work in the ring instead. Ospreay's style shift is noticeable, going into an international with Xavier and just booting him out of the air when Dezmond tries to leapfrog him.
    • Ospreay takes a wristlock on Xavier and backs towards the corner where he's looking for a tag from Moxley, but PAC instead tags himself in. Ospreay looks confused at the treatment and Mox just pats his shoulder. PAC tags in Moxley not long after.
    • Marina is basically serving as the coach this match, making calls to all three men on her team. The Death Rider team starts running a train on Myron in the corner that Will gets in on, and he and PAC start clicking with a tag team whip to Moxley who hits an Ace Crusher. Ospreay and PAC boot Dezmond and Zachary off the apron before hitting stereo topes con giro. Myron somehow kicks out of a piledriver.
    • Ospreay double stomps the left arm of Reed being held by Moxley off the top before doing his La Mística setup move to ground him. Wentz charges Ospreay with a round kick but Ospreay boots Wentz in the gut into a rear body lock from Moxley in the corner. Xavier now goes for the Kardiak Kick on Ospreay but Ospreay goes low and back bodies him. PAC takes the Brutalizer on Dezmond. Will throws a kick at Myron who catches it but Ospreay takes over into Death Ground. Myron taps out the moment Ospreay gets into full extension. Tony Schiavone says this is the 200th win for Moxley in AEW.
  • THE OPPS are backstage. Joe says they stand in opposition of anyone who stands in their way, and they provide opportunities for men who deserve them. "Once again, opportunity calls, and Hollywood's ringing." Joe is going to be gone for a few months, presumably filming Twisted Metal.
  • Lexy Nair is backstage trying to get a word with TAYJAY. She instead runs into DIVINE DOMINION. Lena says "that only lasted 30 seconds"; Lexy turns the corner to reveal Tay and Anna, who have been Killed.
  • Andrade goes to take a selfie with a woman in the front row. He takes the phone to take a front shot so I guess she wraps her arms around his neck and walks forward and literally pulls her over the barricade to do this. She is confused but they take the picture anyway and then he picks her up and sets her back over the railing.
    • Ace Austin, seated in the corner, cuts off Andrade by dodging the meteora, going up and hitting a spinning gamengiri. Austin wants the Fold but Andrade intercepts him with the murderous back elbow and hits the DM to win the match.
  • Main event time on Collision. It's an unsanctioned street fight between Kris Statlander and Hikaru Shida, between whom tensions have boiled over. Shida starts the match swinging for the fences with her kendo stick but Kris boots it out of her hand.
    • Shida and Statlander fight into the corner of ringside. A fan tosses Shida an apple, which she catches and hits her in the head with before doing 10 punches in the corner with it. Shida now somehow has gotten a second apple and stuffs it in Kris's mouth before hitting a round kick to the side of her head. Kris powerbombs Shida on the floor.
    • Kris and Shida brawl into the tunnel of the entranceway and this makes the crowd very unhappy because they can no longer see them. Statlander gets up a metal barricade against a chair and tries to suplex Shida but Shida counters and does it to Stat instead.
    • Shida lays out Kris on the stage and walks backstage once more. She emerges riding a bicycle, which she proceeds to run over the fingers of Statlander with. Taz says that happened to his friend Joey Tuccalomundo as a kid. Shida then just discus throws the bicycle into Kris's head and Excalibur compares that to Kiryu from Yakuza. Kris kicks out at 2.
    • Shida tries to enter a Duel of the Fates with Kris. The issue here is that Shida has her kendo stick and Kris has a whole-ass chair. That ends poorly for Shida.
    • Shida hits a Falcon Arrow for a two count but Kris, in the action of kicking out, fully kips up to her feet and this is horrifying to Shida, who gets fucking decked in the face by a thrown chair. Kris has produced a table on the commentary end of ringside. Shida, on the other end, is Assembling the Structure with chairs. While she does this, Kris tries to do the Strowman Express spot and gets drop toe held into a chair. Shida wants to suplex Kris into a set of four chairs but Stat counters and DVDs Shida onto them.
    • Kris now produces a bundle of three light tubes. Shida begs off, pleading for mercy. Kris relents and sets them down, less out of pity but evidently more out of a feeling that it's simply too much work. As she turns back around Shida immediately rakes her eyes and then cracks the bundle of light tubes across Stat's back. Another Falcon Arrow is still only good enough for a 2 count.
    • Kris's lower back has been opened up badly and it's not helped by Shida starting to whale on her with her kendo stick. Shida wants to pillmanize Stat's neck vertical style but Stat throws the chair into her face. They fight to the apron next to the set-up table; Shida grabs a different kendo stick and swings it at Statlander and hits her in the side but Kris tanks it, ripping it out of her hands and snapping it over her knee before digging the splintered ends into the forehead of Shida before hitting Staturday Night Fever off the apron through the table.
    • Kris rolls Shida back into the ring. HARLEY CAMERON is now running out from the back and hands her Shida's special kendo stick. Stat cracks Shida across the back and hits a second Staturday Night Fever to win the match. Harley gets in to celebrate with Kris, but Statlander remains a bit aloof. Shida looks furious.

    • NEW AEW MEN'S WORLD CHAMPION; 18th reign all-time and third for MJF, improves to 20-4 (18-4 on AEW programming) in matches for the AEW Men's World title
      • Fourth championship in AEW for MJF (3x Men's World, 1x International)
    • Allin's reign ends at seven successful defenses over 39 days, falls to 8-4 career in matches for AEW Men's World title

DEVELOPMENTS

  • Champs getting some heat in after the 5-minute eliminator; Megan wipes out Daniels with a boot before they hit Divine Intervention on Viva. TAY MELO and ANNA JAY run in with weapons to make the save.
  • AJ and QT come out with a big ass walking thing of Vita Coco.
    • QT Marshall gets up on the top but Stephon Smith gets distracted and Christyan XO crotches him. The Rizzler and Harley Cameron walk over to taunt at her. Christyan shoves Harley so they get into a catfight which Harley wins in about 3 seconds. She high fives the Rizzler.
    • There's a big ass tower of doom spot happening before the end. Big Justice throws a bunch of coconut water into the faces of the members of STP that are on top to disorient them. I think this spot is supposed to top off with QT doing a Blockbuster but QT loses his balance and crashes and burns all the way off the top turnbuckle to the floor. They do the spot anyway and AJ pins Carlie to win. AJ got color the hard way somehow
    • EDDIE KINGSTONORTIZ, and MANCE WARNER are here to chase off Shane Taylor Promotions. They're still bitter about losing that 6-man tag title match a couple weeks ago.
  • Mick Foley and Renee Paquette are talking in the ring about the main event. Mick predicts that Darby's going to hang onto the title tonight and now MJF comes out pissed as fuck. He says people consider Mick a legend even though in the biggest moments of his career, all he did was fail. Max tells Mick that he and Darby are a lot alike: they're underdogs, and when their backs are against the wall, they do what they do best: lose.
    • Mick says he's going to give Max a piece of advice, and a piece of history: he lost a lot of matches in his career, but not only could The Rock recall that he won quite a few too, he also never lost one in 2 minutes and 15 seconds. "Unless you want to be known as the man whose matches can time an egg, you better put your big boy pants on, because you've got Darby Allin to contend with!"
    • Max kicks Mick in the nuts and tries to go for a ring shot but DARBY ALLIN is here to make the save. That chases Max off and now Mick addresses Darby, saying that he didn't know until a month ago that he was an inspiration to Darby. Foley tells Darby to win one for the weird ones tonight.
  • Dax tries to wrap barbed wire around his elbow pad and charges Christian in the corner who repels him. Christian then wraps that around the rope and drop toe holds Dax into it and chokes him on the rope. He also takes Paul Turner's belt and whips him with it. Paul sells this by repeatedly adjusting his pants.
    • Dax produces a toolbox from the timekeeper's area. Christian cuts him off in the ring and takes out a pair of pliers and uses it on Dax's mustache before grabbing Cash by the balls with them. They then obliterate him with a chair. They also hit a spike piledriver on Copeland on the Spanish announce desk.
    • A cinder block has been taken to the cast on Christian's left arm. They put his arm inside the block and Pillmanize it several times as if that would do anything. Christian teases like he's going to say he quits but instead says "I banged your mother."
    • Stokely is unscrewing the entire top turnbuckle. He gives it to Dax who charges Christian but instead gets cut off by a spear and chokes Dax. We then hear Dax's real voice. Christian eats a Shatter Machine after Cash chokes him with barbed wire. Cash grabs the microphone, says "this big pussy is gonna quit" and hits him with a wrench but Copeland hits them both with spears.
    • Cash from the floor tells Copeland he'll say it but it's a diversion for Stokely to hit him in the face with the watch he stole from Christian. That staggers Edge long enough for FTR to hit the Shatter Machine. He rolls out as Stokely celebrates in the ring--but BETH COPELAND has returned to get her revenge. Stokely meets her at the stage and they brawl down to the ring but Dax ambushes her and throws her into the side of the ring steps.
    • As FTR usually do when they see a woman, they have decided it is time to kill Beth Copeland. Dax pours an entire bottle of lighter fluid onto a table and lights it as Stokely holds Beth in place on the apron for Cash to spear her. As Cash is charging, Beth slips away, leaving Stokely to take the full spear into the flaming table.
    • Dax is alone now, but Edge is still wiped out in the ring, so he goes to conchairto him. He demands Edge quit if he wants to see his daughters tomorrow. Beth in the corner has been playing possum though, and low blows him as he lifts up the chair. Christian also runs up and punts him in the balls. Adam spears him.
    • Edge and Christian get Dax into a sharpshooter and crossface at the same time. Somehow that's not enough, and Adam signals for Beth to retrieve Spike, who has been under the ring stairs on the west side. Adam has given up the crossface and instead just shoves Spike into the top of Dax's head and this is enough to finally get Dax to say the magic words.
  • Don Callis on commentary for Okada-Takeshita. He says after this match he's going to meet up with Davis and the boys to prepare for the Stampede.
    • Takeshita lands on his feet out of a German suplex and tries the Blue Thunder Bomb, that's countered into a tombstone that's countered into the Bastard Driver that Takeshita hits into a wheelbarrow suplex. Okada takes it but scrambles to his feet and hits a dropkick that Takeshita beasts and takes a swing but Okada takes a rear waistlock and hits a discus lariat.
    • Okada and Takeshita are jockeying for position on the apron that ends with Okada hitting the Rainmaker from inside the ring to Takeshita on the apron. Takeshita is in a bad way and it's not much better when he gets DDTed firmly on the floor. Okada now wants to piledrive Takeshita on the floor but Don Callis gets up from comms and pleads with him not to; Okada gets in the ring, evidently content with a countout.
    • Before Rick Knox gets to six, Takeshita stirs, and Okada decides to yield that position in the ring to go back after him. He picks up Takeshita, but Takeshita quickly takes control and hits a gnarly brainbuster on the floor. Don is livid but Takeshita is matching his energy basically forcing him back into his seat.
    • Back in the ring, Takeshita hits the nastiest fucking Helluva Kick I've seen in a long time. He gets a superplex and tries to maintain control for Raging Fire to put this one to bed but Okada slips out and goes for the Rainmaker. Takeshita cuts it off by kicking that right arm, hits a forearm shiver, and for the first time in AEW, hits Okada with a fucking German suplex BALLS STYLE for a near fall. Take tries the Power Drive but Okada counters into the tombstone for a double down.
    • Okada gets the better of a meaty strike exchange but Takeshita refuses to be denied, fighting back and eventually trying for a discus lariat. Okada counters into a Rainmaker attempt that Takeshita turns into the Blue Thunder Bomb. Popping back up, he wants the Power Drive again and once more he's caught, this time into a partial Emerald Flowsion. Another Rainmaker attempt is also intercepted by Takeshita, who drops Okada on his head in an inside cradle before floating over for a 2 count.
    • Okada backslides Takeshita into a disgusting short-arm lariat. Wrist control is maintained but Takeshita ducks the second and hits the ropes straight into a dropkick. This time Okada's Rainmaker effort is countered by Takeshita just fucking hitting it himself but for the third time, the Power Drive is countered with another dropkick. Takeshita just beasts it and hits the knee from where he's standing anyway. Okada shoves Takeshita off him at 1 but is unable to mount any kind of return offense. He literally braces himself on Takeshita looking up at him so Takeshita winds up and takes his fucking head off with a forearm, hits a Raging Fire that lands Okada on his side, and claims what's his.
    • Don briefly enters the ring to congratulate Takeshita before turning his attention to Okada. After Takeshita's done celebrating on the turnbuckles, he turns around to see Don and Okada with MARK DAVIS and ROCKY ROMERO. Don, Mark, and Rocky all have words for Takeshita, so Takeshita squares up to fight when KYLE FLETCHER's music hits. He charges down to the ring and exchanges glances with Takeshita before bowing up to Okada, prompting Don and the others to back off.
    • ProtoShita embrace finally in the ring with Kyle taking the championship belt and presenting it to Takeshita, lifting his arm--before wiping him out with a lariat. Takeshita doesn't even have the energy to be outraged, just lying there looking up at him. Don, Okada, and Rocky are all smiles; Davis looks surprised more than anything but makes no effort to intervene. Kyle squats besides Takeshita, smirking as the crowd chants "ASSHOLE" at him, before picking him up by the hair. Takeshita is trying to fight back but has nothing in the tank. Kyle tells Takeshita "you knew this was coming" several times before hitting him with a brainbuster.
    • Both Fletcher and Okada go to pick up the International Championship belt; Okada yields to Fletcher as Rocky and Davis pick up Takeshita one more time and hold him in place for Fletcher to hit him with the belt. He and Okada dap up as the Family finally exits, allowing medical to finally get to Takeshita.
  • Athena wipes out the right side of the video barricade with a dropkick to Mina early on here.
    • Mina goes for the figure 4 on Athena but she gets sent to the ropes before being caught with a headscissors to ground her. Mina charges back but Athena sweeps the leg and then hits a fucking nasty Super Dragon curbstomp for a 2 count. Athena's been fighting through a lot of knee pain this match after having it heavily targeted by Shirakawa in the early goings.
    • Athena tries the O-Face off the second but can't get Mina all the way down. Mina performs a somewhat awkward O'Connor roll for a 2. She hits the ropes, ducks a line, and spikes Athena off a tijeres and applies a modified Seatbelt for another near fall.
    • Mina gets the best of a strike exchange with a spinning backfist that wipes out Athena and allows her to apply the figure 4 but Athena's able to reach the bottom rope. She's still in a bad way, though, and hits another backfist before trying for the Glamorous Driver. She can't get it, though, and after briefly jockeying for position, Athena tombstones her before hitting the O-Face to take the win. Athena returns to the semifinal of the Owen, where she's been twice before but has yet to escape.
  • Lot of grappling and dick-measuring in the early goings of this Continental title match.
    • Kyle's trying to focus heavily on the leg of Moxley to prepare for the ankle lock. He's on a long string offense before he gets Moxley against the ring post and starts throwing martial arts kicks. Moxley sidesteps one, though, and Kyle's left foot meets solid metal.
    • When they try to initiate a strike exchange in the ring shortly after and Kyle throws a kick at the back of Moxley's knee he crumbles. Moxley starts working over that left leg and maintains control over the next several minutes.
    • Moxley tries for a third Dragon Screw of the match on Kyle but KOR stays on his feet and drops into a juji gatame which he's searched for several times before transitioning into picking the ankle. Mox has no answer for this, but he won't tap out, so Kyle yields the hold and instead just stomps on the left ankle of Moxley before PKing him.
    • Mox rolls out and psychs himself up before getting back in where Kyle immediately curbstomps him. Moxley answers with an Ace Crusher for a double down.
    • Mox wins a strike exchange and hits the Death Rider into a rear naked choke. He tries to lie down into it but Kyle rolls through and picks the left ankle again. Mox is able to take Kyle's left ankle during this. Kyle yields the hold to get a 2 count on the supine Moxley but Mox gets the left shoulder up without surrendering his grip. There's nowhere for Kyle to go; Mox can't be dragged and they're in the center of the ring. Kyle gives up.
    • The Death Riders come out to celebrate with Moxley; in the opposite corner, The Conglomeration come out to check on Kyle. Both men get to their feet and Moxley exchanges some words with Kyle before the two shake hands
  • Ospreay hot starts on Joe with an OsCutter and we're off to the races.
    • Ospreay hits a house show to the floor and a springboard 450 in the ring for a 2 count before trying to get the juji gatame locked in. Joe won't let him get to full extension and forces a rope break. Will wants a Hidden Blade but Joe rolls to the floor so Ospreay tries the Sasuke Special but comes up short and Joe grabs the Coquina Clutch. Ospreay forces Joe back into the barricade twice so Joe relinquishes the hold and just chucks Will into the board.
    • Joe's getting a lot of heat over the next few minutes but gets cut off when Will gets his knees up on an attempted big boy senton. Will's focusing on the left arm of Joe including a double stomp to it off the second while Joe's using it to brace himself on the ropes. Ospreay gets a 2 off a back handspring corkscrew kick. He tries for another OsCutter but Joe nopes out of the way before turning around video game style and hitting the big boy senton for a 2.
    • Joe hits a powerbomb for a 2 and maintains control into a Boston Crab the long way. He transitions into an STF before yielding the leg hook and wrenching Ospreay's right arm back. Will gets his foot on the rope. He eats a series of PKs, firing up after each one into a strike exchange that Joe gets the better of.
    • Joe wants a short-arm lariat but Ospreay floats all the way over and somehow hits the Styles Clash for a 2. A Hidden Blade also gets a near fall, and Ospreay takes down the elbow pad for a second one. Joe catches him into a snap powerslam for a double down.
    • Joe sends Ospreay off the ropes who goes around for an attempted La Mística but can't get the arm. Instead he goes back into the flying armbar but can't get Joe's arm extended. Joe stacks Ospreay for a 2 and then takes the Coquina Clutch. Will's able to get to his feet and flips back into a pin for his own 2-count. Ospreay gets a thrust kick and tries to charge Joe in the corner but gets countered with the STJoe.
    • Joe now gets the Coquina Clutch again and has it for the next 40 seconds as Ospreay fades. Bryce Remsburg does a 3-count arm raise, and on the third, Will grabs the rope to force a break. Joe wants the Muscle Buster but he's got Ospreay too far back and Will springs out and hits a nasty Hidden Blade off the ropes for a one count, gets up, and wipes him out with another Hidden Blade to the back of the neck to take the win. Joe bows to Ospreay as he leaves the ring.
  • Swerve and Bandido start fast; Bandido's got a lot of kinesio tape on his shoulder and neck.
    • Bandido's got control for the first several minutes of this match until he tries a spear in the corner and Swerve sidesteps. Thus begins the heat.
    • Bandido pops up Swerve but he lands standing on the shoulders of Bandido and kicks him in the back of the head before hitting the Swerve Stomp off the top for a 2.9. Bandido responds by hitting a Poisonrana off the apron to the floor because he's a psychopath lol
    • Bandido hits a grounded 21 Plex that realistically should have put Strickland away, but he's unable to keep the bridge because of the pressure on his injured shoulder and neck and loses the pin at 1. They trade sunset flips and Bandido tries to hit a Code Red; Swerve hangs on and pops him up for a powerbomb but Bandido instead spikes Strickland on the top of his head with a Hurricanrana.
    • Bandido has Swerve up for the traditional 21 Plex but can't get enough momentum to rebound and Swerve takes the Vertebreaker hold, drops Bandido on his shit, hits the House Call, and walks away the winner. It's a frustrating high-profile, albeit non-title, loss for the ROH champion.
  •  The women's 4-way starts with everyone ganging up on Thekla before pairing off.
    • Shida and Statlander are, at least temporarily on the same page early on, working as a unit against Jamie Hayter before she cuts them off. They end up getting both Hayter and Thekla in the corner and Stat charges in and body presses them with Shida narrowly getting out of the way. That leads to them exchanging words briefly, allowing Hayter to glom Shida from behind and send her into Statlander.
    • Hayter and Stat both catch Thekla out of a crossbody, and they effective fallaway slam her when Shida wipes all three of them out with a missile dropkick. Shida tries for covers on Thekla and Hayter, each for a 1 count, before Statlander immediately throws her off and has some words for her as Shida begs off. Both Stat and Shida get schoolboyed for two counts.
    • Statlander and Shida are back on a united front for the time being, with Kris calling for Shida to move before lining Hayter over the top rope and Shida hammer throwing Kris for an attempted tope onto Hayter. Statlander gets cut off by a boot on the apron from Thekla, then Shida just kicks Thekla in the back of the leg and she dies.
    • Every time Statlander and Hayter meet in the ring this match neither can get the better of the other.
    • Thekla does her spider taunt to Shida, preparing for a spear, so Statlander just picks her up into Staturday Night Fever position. Thekla slips out and shoves her into Hayter, who catches her into an exploder suplex, before booting Thekla in the jaw. Kris fights Jamie into the ropes and tries to whip her into a leaping knee from Shida, but Hayter reverses and Statlander gets wiped out instead.
    • Thekla has Hayter in an octopus stretch that Hayter escapes with a backbreaker before hitting Hayterade. Shida breaks it up with a knee on Hayter at 2.
    • Shida hits the Falcon Arrow on Hayter and rolls her into the most fucked-up looking ankle lock of all time and Statlander walks up and just grabs Shida by the throat and stands her up. Shida's begging off as Stat says "you're gonna do this to me?" She eventually releases the grip as Shida continues to apologize before just very lightly slapping her in the face and the brawl is on.
    • Stat and Shida brawl on the floor until Shida gets thrown into the stairs. Stat turns her attention to Hayter, who she lays out with a pump kick, before getting back in the ring. Thekla tries for a spear but Statlander leapfrogs her, hits a couple thrust kicks, and puts Thekla down with Staturday Night Fever. That pin gets broken at 2 when Shida hits Statlander across the back with a kendo stick.
    • Both Thekla and Statlander are laid out and it's not clear who Shida is targeting when she swings the kendo stick back again, but Hayter grabs the stick from the apron and pulls Shida over the top to the floor. A still-rising Statlander is completely vulnerable when Thekla hits her with the curbstomp to pick up the win and retain the title.
  • There are several beach balls in the crowd throughout the Stadium Stampede.
    • The Hurt Syndicate and GOA fight into the backstage hallways. Bobby tries to get the Hurt Lock on Toa but he fights out and headbutts him onto the ground. The camera pans over to LIO RUSH being a freak. He says "he"'s got it from here so Toa grabs Lio's lat and Lio just bites the fuck out of Toa's hand. Bobby beats Toa back as Lio jumps onto Toa's back.
    • The Bucks brawl with the Dogs over to the merchandise stand where Matt hits David with a replica title and they both superkick Clark onto an escalator going upwards. A camera operator follows him all the way up.
    • Back in the arena, Andrade is trying to take a selfie with a couple women when a tall figure with long blonde hair comes up behind him from the crowd. Turns out it's LUCHASAURUS in a wig. Luchasaurus starts chewing in Andrade's general direction and then yells at him which prompts Andrade to throw the phone at him. He does not know what to do with this phone so instead he just spits chewed onion into Andrade's face.
    • Jack Perry and Mark Davis are now in catering. Perry fist bumps TOMMY INVINCIBLE who is just here for some reason. Davis bumps Perry and Tommy says leave him alone because we are invincible and Davis just decks him. Perry drop toe holds Davis into an upturned chair.
    • The feed dies for like 15 seconds and when it comes back we see Andrade and Kenny standing off. Andrade charges Kenny who sidesteps him and he runs into the back of someone who is apparently eating an entire cake by himself. He stands up and turns around to reveal that he is SATNAM SINGH. Andrade slowly realizes this and says "holy shit... oh fuck... sorry boss." Satnam screams "FOOD FIGHT" as Andrade runs away and throws a jobber into Satnam so he just gorilla presses him and throws him into a table. All hell has broken loose in catering as Tony Schiavone mourns their "post-game meal." Luchasaurus is also back here.
    • Toa Liona picks up an entire shopping cart over his head and hits Matt Jackson with it.
    • We now go backstage into Generic Tennis Training Room where Ricochet and Jericho are fighting. Jericho knocks Ricochet down and opens a door to reveal LUTHER, the butler of Toni Storm, who presents to Jericho an enormous tennis racket. Jericho hits Ricochet with a few times before turning on a tennis ball shooter and throwing him into a loading bay door. Apparently the Stadium Stampede is falls count anywhere and Aubrey gives him a two count.
    • Mark Davis with a bandage around his head is now in the back of the parking lot outside. He stumbles towards a golf cart and notices that a note has been stabbed into the back cushion with a knife. Picking it up, he reads "WAIT HERE ASSHOLE." The camera pans to reveal the Jurassic Express, which promptly crashes into and obliterates the golf cart. Jack Perry exits the bus, looks into the wreckage and shrugs annoyed as he turns around to go back into the arena.
    • Apparently Mark Davis was not in that wreckage as back at ringside Bobby promptly spears him through a table leaning against the barricade. Kenny hits Andrade with a One Winged Angel off the apron through a table.
    • Everyone runs a train on Ricochet before Bishop Kaun shoves him out of the way to take the bullet for him. Jericho pins him off the Lionsault.
  • Darby immediately gets three two-counts in a row off side headlock takeovers on MJF before dropkicking him through the ropes to the floor. He goes for a tope suicida but Max shoves him out of the way and he lands COMPLETELY on his neck in one of the most horrifying bumps of this entire reign. Max spends a lot of this match focusing on that spot on the upper back.
    • Max tries for a tombstone piledriver off the second but Darby switches control and gets a Stundog Millionaire out of it. He tries for a Coffin Drop but Max powders to the floor so instead he drills him on a bottom rope tope suicida that sends MJF tumbling over the announce desk.
    • Darby's got Max's supine with his head positioned on the apron. He tries for a Coffin Drop guillotine-style off the ring post but MJF moves and Darby eats the apron. Max proceeds to hit a package piledriver on the side of the upturned ring stairs.
    • Max wants the side headlock takeover himself but Darby throws him to the ropes. Referee Bryce Remsburg has to duck out of the way which gives Allin enough time to low blow Friedman and get a 2.9 off his own fourth side headlock takeover. Max double stomps Darby's extended arm off the second. His own lower back is in bad shape and Darby puts him in the Scorpion Death Lock. Max is able to get to the ropes to force a break so Darby scrambles up for the Coffin Drop but Max gets the knees up to generate a 2-count.
    • MJF tries the Heatseeker for the second time, Darby shoves him away so he tries the forced slingshot cutter a second time but Darby lands on his feet into the Scorpion Death Drop. He wants the Coffin Drop but Max has rolled away so he jumps down and charges and Max takes over with the side headlock for a late 1 count. Darby takes his own for a 2 and Max rolls him over into a crucifix. They trade pins obsessively for a minute before Darby tries the Code Red. Max tries to counter into the Alabama Slam, Darby lands on his feet and is promptly met with a cross chop to the throat from Max who gets him up for a powerbomb. Darby pops out and hits the Code Red for a 2.
    • Max charges Darby screaming "FUCK YOU!!!" and Darby takes over with the setup for Last Supper into a jackknife pin that gets him a near fall. MJF powders so Darby tries another tope; Max responds by grabbing the camera operator nearest the ring and pulling him into the path of Darby, who crashes and burns.
    • Max fireman carries Darby over to the stage, where a barbershop setup has been erected with a chair, which he sets Darby down into before taking the electric razor from the table. Darby boots it out of his hand and applies a front guillotine with a body lock, sufficiently choking him out on the stage. Darby sees his chance. He picks up MJF and puts him on the table before looking up at the scaffolding supporting the screen above the entrance. Allin climbs all the way up what Tony Schiavone estimates to be about 20 feet, does Cactus Jack's taunt, and hits the Coffin Drop onto MJF through the table.
    • The back of Darby's head is IMMEDIATELY opened up. Max is dead but the back of Allin's hair has been stained red with his own blood. This one is a gusher, and it's making it that much harder for Darby to stay on his feet as he tries to drag MJF back to the ring. Darby hits the Coffin Drop in the ring but only gets about a 2.7 or so.
    • Darby gets the Scorpion Death Lock back in but his body gives out on him as he collapses out of it. The look on Max's face reflects what he knows--Darby's tank is empty. He stands up and throws Bryce out of the way, standing Darby up and applying a side headlock. Max screams "HEADLOCK" before Darby suddenly springs to life, taking over and hitting the Death Drop for the second time. Both men are supine for about 10 seconds before Darby kips up, going over and climbing up for the Coffin Drop but MJF lunges to the rope and crotches Darby. Max proceeds to hit a DISGUSTING tombstone off the second rope and that's enough to put Darby away once and for all. Bryce Remsburg is disgusted but hands MJF the belt anyway.
    • Darby is rolled out of the ring onto a stretcher. Once the medical team straps him in, MJF gets up and kicks them out of the way, screaming "THIS IS MY MOMENT!" and posing with one foot on the stretcher holding up the title. Suddenly, he powders, as KEVIN KNIGHT sprints to the ring to chase him off. "Get your ass back here! You hear me? You hear me?" he yells at MJF, perching on the ropes with one foot on the middle and one on top.
    • The EMTs have rolled Darby back towards the stage end of ringside. Suddenly, Kevin gets up and HITS THE UFO SPLASH ON DARBY before UPENDING THE STRETCHER WITH HIM STILL STRAPPED ONTO IT. He looks introspective for a moment, almost like he's reflecting on what he just did, before a slight smile appears on his face. MJF at the entranceway can't believe what he just saw but he's happy he saw it. The show fades to black zoomed in on the face of Kevin Knight breathing heavily, stone-faced staring at Darby.

DEVELOPMENTS

  • CHRIS JERICHO and the YOUNG BUCKS were out by the water earlier today by a lighthouse. Jericho apologizes for beating their dads' ass but also says he deserved it. He says he's honored to be partnering with them and then they can't agree on a team name. Matt thinks it should be "The Bucks of Jericho" and Chris thinks it should be "Y2Jackson." They settle on "2 Teams, 1 Name."
  • Andrade kicks out of a BTE Trigger so the Bucks set up for a Meltzer Driver. Aubrey Edwards is distracted by the apron, though, and CLARK CONNORS runs in and wipes Nick Jackson off the apron. DAVID FINLAY clobbers Matt with the shillelagh and Andrade falls on top of him to get the pinfall.
    • TOA LIONA and BISHOP KAUN come in to beat down the babyface team so JUNGLE JACK PERRY comes out with a bag of onions and clubs Toa across the head with it. This still isn't enough reinforcements so the HURT SYNDICATE are here to even the numbers. On Sunday: the Stadium Stampede.
  • DARBY ALLIN backstage with Renee Paquette. Renee asks him why he keeps taking these matches. Darby says he feels everything. People ask him "why every week?" and he says he has no choice. When Max loses his hair, it's going to eat him alive, he says. He addresses Speedball, saying he'll do anything it takes to keep holding onto that belt and he wants Bailey to do the same.
  • Mark Briscoe brings a trash can laden with weapons out for this Anything Goes affair with Tommaso Ciampa, and that's how you know we've got a real hardcore-style bout on our hands.
    • Ciampa at one point early on goes digging under the ring, retrieves another trash can, and digs down inside it. He pulls his hand out revealing a rat trap that has snapped onto him. Briscoe dropkicks him through the ropes and breaks a mop handle over his head; Ciampa is cursing him out this entire time.
    • Mark sets Tommaso up on a table at ringside and chokes him with a chain before going up top for presumably a Froggy Bow; Ciampa cuts him off and wraps the chain around his neck before doing the MJF-Hangman spot off the top through the table.
    • Tommaso has now produced a cheese grater and is using it on Mark's forehead. Briscoe is opened up big style.
    • During international time, Ciampa introduces a stuffed chicken into the match. The crowd is pissed when he delivers several chairshots to it, uses the cheese grater on it, then hits Project Ciampa on it. He covers it and Rick Knox gives him a two count but Mark Briscoe pulls Knox out of the ring. PWG never die
    • Briscoe's at a solid 0.6 on the Muta Scale. He tanks a cookie sheet to the forehead and fights back before getting Ciampa with an exploder suplex. Mark has now produced several small spools of barbed wire and a staple gun which he uses to staple the wire to a table. Ciampa eventually cuts him off just so he can continue stapling the wire to the table before stapling multiple pages of commentary's note sheets to Briscoe's forehead.
    • Back in the ring, Ciampa has produced a kneepad with a full layer of tacks on it. He goes for his knee strike but Briscoe gets him with a drop toe hold into a ladder that's been set up in the corner. Mark then stabs the fuck out of Tommaso with a screwdriver. Both men are now sufficiently gushing blood. Briscoe wants a DVD into the ladder but Ciampa counters out and hits a vertical suplex through it. That gets a 2-count.
    • Ciampa hits the running knee with the tacks. He thinks about a cover but instead decides to try for the Psycho Driller off the top onto two chairs facing each other. Briscoe escapes and turns the chairs around so they're back-to-back before getting Ciampa with an Iconoclasm onto the chairs and he takes it like shit and dies. While he's selling, he feeds to the apron, so Mark says fuck it and hits the Jay Driller off the apron through the barbed wire table. He throws Ciampa back in the ring, hits the Froggy Bow, and picks up the win.
  • Tony Schiavone is in the ring to introduce SWERVE STRICKLAND ahead of his match with BANDIDO in the opening round of the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament at Double or Nothing, but PRINCE NANA cuts him off so he can do his own introduction instead.
    • Swerve comes out but he gets jumped from behind by Bandido. They brawl in and around the ring for a while, but Bandido is on top for most of it. Swerve gets some heat in later on and wants to set up the Vertebreaker onto the chair like he hit on Supercard of Honor, but Bandido instead press slams him. He tries to set up the 21 Plex onto the chair; Swerve gets up and throws the chair at Bandido who deflects it and tries to charge Swerve with it. Strickland powders and leaves up the ramp with Nana as Bandido is left standing tall in the ring.
  • WILLOW NIGHTINGALE backstage. She says winning the TBS title was one of the greatest moments of her career. She's won the Owen before, she's won the TBS title before this, and she became one half of the inaugural Women's Tag Team champions, but winning the TBS title back from Mercedes proved to herself that she was everything she could be. That's why, she says, she fought day in and day out against any challenger that stepped up--she felt that if she couldn't, she didn't deserve to be the champion.
    • Willow says facing Red Velvet on Saturday, she injured her right shoulder. Much as she desperately wants to wrestle at Double or Nothing in front of her home crowd and her family and face Alex Windsor in the Owen and continue to defend the TBS title, she must withdraw from the tournament and relinquish the championship. "As sure as this smile remains on my face, I will be back. I don't know when, but I'll tell you this: I'm coming right back to the top." She leaves the title in a locker.
    • A wild card will take her spot in the tournament, and that first match at Double or Nothing has been flexed to Athena-Shirakawa. Willow's second reign with the TBS title comes to an end at 10 successful defenses over 140 days.
  • Jon Moxley is targeting Kyle O'Reilly ribs and midsection heavily here, to the point where when Kyle goes for a tope to Moxley on the floor, he's in too much pain to actually commit to the full run.
    • These two go to war for the full 20-minute time limit. Both men desperately want to win this match. Down to about 40 seconds, Mox tries for a curbstomp off the ropes but Kyle evades and takes the ankle. Moxley's got no escape for the ankle lock, and the look on his face reflects his knowledge that even if he were to escape, he'd have no time to mount any kind of comeback offense to beat O'Reilly, which has been his goal since they butted heads late last year.
    • It takes Moxley everything in him not to tap out as the clock expires, but for O'Reilly, the result is functionally as good as a victory. Arkady Aura announces that he's earned a match for the title, but Kyle takes the microphone from her and says that he didn't "survive" a damn thing--Moxley barely survived him. He's got a legitimate claim to the title--in their last four meetings he's now submitted Moxley to the ankle lock twice, won by disqualification once as Moxley realized he had no escape from the ankle lock, and now fought to a time limit draw in the ankle lock. KOR wants his match for the title at Double or Nothing, no time limit.
  • Renee Paquette backstage with KRIS STATLANDER and HIKARU SHIDA. Kris is heartbroken for Willow and is trying to talk about it but Shida, who does not seem interested in talking about Nightingale, cuts her off. She says that on Sunday, she and her dear friend Kris Statlander fight for the world championship and they are so ready! Renee tells Kris she understands that Kris isn't cleared but she will be by Double or Nothing; Kris confirms that and is immediately cut off again by Shida who says they're not here tonight to fight, just to watch. "Our eyes [are] on the entire division, right, Kris?" Kris grabs her by the shoulder and tells her to watch herself before leaving.
  • RUSH is backstage. He wants a shot at Darby's title next week on Wednesday if Darby survives Double or Nothing. He reads this entire promo, including his catchphrase, off a prompter.
  • Towards the end of the 8-woman tag, Thekla and Thunder Rosa are legal. Thekla tries to go use the title belt on Rosa; Mike Posey stops her, and that distraction is enough time for Julia Hart to get Rosa with the black mist. Thekla schoolboys Rosa for the win.
  • JETSPEED backstage. Speedball has a shot at the world title, and Kevin wants first dibs if they win it.
  • JON MOXLEY backstage with Renee Paquette and the DEATH RIDERS. The boys are all doing push-ups, including Mox. Renee tells Mox that while Kyle O'Reilly didn't submit him, he did take him all the way to the time limit to earn a shot at the Continental title. She asks how things will be different for him on Sunday with no time limit.
    • "You're acting like that should be some kind of moral victory. We don't do moral victories. We don't make up things to celebrate, and we don't sweat the small stuff. Thank you, Kyle O'Reilly. Thank you for everything you've done for me, for pushing me to be better, for driving me crazy because I can't find a way to beat you"..."giving me a chance to practice what I preach, to live as a champion, to act as a champion; win, lose, or draw, thank you. You've done something extraordinary, Kyle: you've tapped me out twice. Twice. What are the odds you think you can do it a third time? You rolled the dice tonight, and you won. Sunday... ain't it cute? You go Double or Nothing... what are your odds? I say, this time, the house finally wins."
  • Another AEW World title Dynamite main event. MJF comes out and does his full entrance right before the bell is about to ring. He takes a seat at commentary.
    • We're starting fast. Darby charges Speedball but gets laid out with a PK. Speedball gets a missile dropkick off the second and the corner Cyclone Kick. He goes up for Ultima Weapon but Darby feeds to the apron.
    • Out of the break, Darby gets Speedball's foot trapped under the ring stairs. Once they're freed and limping back towards the ring, Allin wipes them out with a tope suicida. Back in the ring, Darby tries a springback Coffin Drop but gets anti-aired on a shotgun dropkick. Speedball hits the Cyclone Kick in the corner again but Darby rolls out of the way as they try the Ultima Weapon.
    • Darby now hits the Coffin Drop off the top and makes a delayed cover but Max now gets up and grabs Speedball's foot and puts it on the rope. The break counts but for some reason Bryce Remsburg, who can tell exactly what Max just did, does not eject him from ringside. Instead KEVIN KNIGHT comes out to confront him.
    • Speedball gets a PK on a seated Darby and hits the standing moonsault knee drop. They get a nasty thrust kick to send Darby into the corner but Darby slips out of an attempted Flamingo Driver. He gets them up for a second Scorpion Death Drop; Speedball drops low and rolls up Darby for a 2 count but Darby takes back over and when Speedball tries to kip up, Darby keeps his hold and hits the Death Drop.
    • Darby takes the legs of Speedball and gets them into the Scorpion Death Lock; at Kevin Knight's urging, Speedball makes it to the ropes, but that prompts Darby to go up top and hit a Coffin Drop onto the raised lower back of Bailey and get them back into the Death Lock. It's wrenched all the way back, and close as Speedball is to the ropes, they have no choice but to give up.
    • MJF is visibly frustrated as he leaves commentary and walks through the crowd, many of whom are taunting him now that the hair vs. title match is guaranteed at Double or Nothing. Kevin Knight cuts a promo in the ring saying how proud he is of Speedball and urging Darby to go on to Double or Nothing and take Max's hair. He says they'll be right there ready to get back to making runs for his title when he does.
    • As Kevin and Speedball leave together, MJF sees an opening and charges back through the crowd to the ring and attacks Darby. He retrieves an electric razor from underneath the ring and goes to take it to the forehead of Darby. Darby catches his wrist and grounds him, trying to take the razor to Max's head but Friedman is able to escape.
  • Ahead of WILL OSPREAY's match, we see him in the back with the DEATH RIDERS minus Jon Moxley and PAC. Claudio is putting Will's jacket on him and Danny hypes Will up. During Will's entrance, Renee tells us that Ospreay has termed his flying juji gatame "Death Ground," in reference to a conversation he had with Moxley about a month ago.
    • In the final minutes of this bout, Ospreay hits a leaping forearm strike to the back of Shibata's neck before motioning for the Hidden Blade out of the corner. That gets interrupted by ANTHONY BOWENS arriving to grab Ospreay's ankle. The momentary distraction allows Shibata to get up and hit a Hidden Blade of his own for a 2 count.
    • MARINA SHAFIR and CLAUDIO CASTAGNOLI have arrived through the crowd to confront Bowens. Back in the ring, Ospreay tries for the OsCutter but Shibata blocks it. He goes to whip Ospreay towards referee Rick Knox, who cowers in the corner and gets his arms up to protect his head. Shibata, though, pulls Ospreay back and with Knox preoccupied, low blows him before forcing him to roll through and trying to get his own juji gatame locked in.
    • Ospreay's able to keep his arm bent to prevent the cross armbreaker from reaching full extension and powerbombs Shibata out of a triangle choke. The Styles Clash and Hidden Blade combination secure him the pinfall victory.
    • SAMOA JOE is now here on the stage after the match. Joe mocks Ospreay over the Death Riders' involvement in that match but says he didn't come out here for Will, just to ensure the safety of Bowens and Shibata "because that's what I do for my friend." He says it's unfortunate that Will made a choice not to be his friend, and at Double or Nothing, he'll make him suffer the consequences for it. He guarantees that at the end of their match on Sunday, he will have put Ospreay to sleep.
    • Ospreay tells Joe not to go anywhere. "You insist that this is a nightmare situation. Let me tell you about my nightmare situation: Sunday morning"..."look at my phone, oh, mate, so many people are now doubting me. People are saying 'ah, before the injury, Will looked good. He's lost his physique; he hasn't got it anymore, he's lost too much weight'--yeah, no shit, I had a double fusion neck surgery. And ten years ago, that would've been it. The Aerial Assassin would've been dead. And for 20 years, Samoa Joe, these people have said 'Joe is gonna kill you'--bruv, how you gonna kill a guy that's already died in this bloody ring?"
    • Will says he has a chance to fulfill the dream of every kid who grew up in his country by challenging for the world title at the biggest stadium in the nation. Bowens is covering his ears. "My nightmare died and it was in the hands of these men and Marina. They killed the old me, and they rebuilt me into a murderer, bruv, into a killer! Into what I've been this entire time: an assassin!"
  • CAGE & COPE backstage. Cope says they met in 6th grade. "He had a ninja star," Cope says, and this has zero relevance to anything else he says this entire segment. "In talking, we both found out that we love wrestling. And we told ourselves we were gonna become tag team champions. High school, college, broke into the business together, we've done everything together. Hell, we even found out we were gonna have daughters six weeks apart. In an industry where you have to question what's real and what isn't, this [...] is real.
    • "Tell you what, FTR, I want the best version on FTR because after you dropped my wife on her head, I need that best version of FTR to show up to this match on Sunday... because we want to beat the best FTR and make that FTR say 'I quit.'"
    • Christian Cage says FTR have made some questionable choices, and he always says "when you're born, you look like your family, and when you die, you look like your choices."
  • This main event is kind of nothing; given that they just ran a promo about how it's going to be a grudge match between FTR and Cage & Cope for the titles at Double or Nothing, the expectation is that the titles are absolutely not moving four days before that match. FTR hot start on Orange and try to get him up for the spike piledriver but Roddy wipes out Cash. Orange slips out and Dax tries to sunset flip him but Orange sits down and gets a near fall.
    • Most of the rest of this match is FTR doing as much heel shit as possible, pulling out every ref distraction spot there is, and it goes three segments. It's really not that terribly engaging. Dax and Cash each kick out of several flash pins and the finish is Dax throwing Orange towards referee Paul Turner, who runs out of the way, and Stokely clocking Orange in the head with the watch he stole from Christian. It knocks Orange out and Dax pins him.
