DEVELOPMENTS

  • MJF has a mic to start the show. He's pulling out every excuse in the book to allege that he was screwed. He says Darby could never beat him at 100% and that he's the best pro wrestler in the world. He demands Darby come out and give him the world title back.
    • Instead he's met by the TNT Champion KEVIN KNIGHT. Kevin says when you're a real, fighting champion, you're willing to put your title on the line at any time, and reminds MJF that he had him pinned for a 13-count a few weeks ago.
    • MJF tries to make fun of Kevin's promo but mispronounces eloquent as "eleqent" so not sure where he's getting there. He says Kevin deserves the TNT title because he's a workhorse and an average Joe, that he's got a ceiling, and that ceiling is well below the world title.
    • Kevin says some of the best wrestlers in the world have held the TNT title, so it's no coincidence that MJF happens to never have. Kevin says if MJF's always had everything handed to him, how about he hands him an ass whooping?
    • MJF says Kevin's made him kind of want it a little bit; he can tell how proud the Jet is of the TNT title, and he wants to take that pride away. Max says if Knight wants another shot at him, he's gotta put the title on the line, and Knight agrees. MJF wants a ref right now so here comes Bryce Remsburg. We've got all the makings of a title match but MJF rolls out of the ring and says "you're gonna dance with the devil next week, kid."
  • Renee Paquette backstage with THE DEMAND and JERICHO. On Collision, Jericho faces them in a trios match but they don't have partners for him yet. The Demand say he's burned all his bridges and that nobody wants to team with him now that he's the guy who gets his ass beat by The Demand every week that he shows up; Jericho has gotten a trademark on that phrase and threatens to send him a cease and desist. Jericho says he doesn't need to find anyone who likes him, he just needs to find someone who hates Ricochet.
  • Lio Rush is saying that "it's never been his house" in his Gollum voice. I guess he's trying to get into a program with Swerve.
  • Brody King had trouble putting away Lio Rush. He's now selling the left arm. He grabs a mic and calls out whoever has the world title at the end of the night.
  • Renee Paquette backstage with TOMMASO CIAMPA, who challenges for the world title in the main event tonight. Ciampa says he's been told his entire career that he's not tall enough, wide enough, charismatic enough. He says he's got a work ethic like none other and that tonight he's prepared to shatter a glass ceiling. He tells Renee to ask Darby "do you want this more than I need it?"
  • ADAM COPELAND backstage. He says that if FTR really want to prove they are the singular greatest tag team of all time, they'll put the tag titles back on the line at Double or Nothing in a New York Street Fight. If Edge and Christian lose there, they'll retire as a tag team.
  • HIKARU SHIDA backstage before her match. She says to Mina "may the best joshi win."
  • Shida goes for her kendo stick at ringside while grounded and Mina is arguing with the referee. Shirakawa notices and intercepts her, then decides she's going to use the stick herself, willing to sacrifice the match to get her revenge. She's thwarted by KRIS STATLANDER at ringside, who grabs it as she swings back. Mina's mad about this, and the distraction is long enough for Shida to get her with a knee and put her away.
  • Davis hits Close Your Eyes on Ospreay near the apron and Ospreay survives by rope break when his leg inadvertently falls onto the bottom rope. Davis decides to take this opportunity to drag him onto the apron and hit it AGAIN there. Ospreay slumps to the floor; he's being checked on by Doc Sampson once again. Ospreay is pleading with the doctor to leave him so he can continue but Sampson is not having it and tells the ref to call for the bell.
    • Post-match, Davis hasn't had enough. He goes back out and grabs Ospreay, pulling him back into the ring and setting him up for a third piledriver. He's stopped, though, when MARINA SHAFIR gets on the apron. JON MOXLEY gets on the other end, and Davis is quickly surrounded by CLAUDIO CASTAGNOLIWHEELER YUTA, and DANIEL GARCIA. Davis isn't sure why they're here but he relents, setting Ospreay down. The Death Riders storm the ring after Davis leaves and literally kidnap Ospreay, dragging him out and leaving with him.
  • Renee Paquette backstage with ALEX WINDSOR. Alex says they're not done with the Triangle of Madness, and PERSEPHONE is here to join Windsor on Collision for a tag match against any two of the Triangle.
  • HOOK is here in the entrance to congratulate Joe on a successful return. In the time Joe has been gone, Hook has successfully recruited exactly Zero new members to the Opps.
  • Renee Paquette backstage once more with JERICHO, who reveals that he's hired the HURT SYNDICATE to join him on Collision. MVP says it's just business.
  • DARBY ALLIN townhall. He says this world title can grow people's egos, but his title isn't for him--it's for his parents, his fiancée, the sherpas on Mount Everest who almost certainly did not get paid enough and I'm sure they don't give a fuck that you have the AEW world title.
    • MJF interrupts and demands Darby give him the title back. Darby says no. MJF demands a rematch immediately. Darby says no. Darby tells MJF that he's not getting a rematch until he puts something on the line; he's the one with leverage. Until then, he tells MJF to get the hell away from his ring.
    • TOMMASO CIAMPA is here to wrestle; MJF tells Ciampa something on the ramp. Ciampa smiles and kisses MJF on the cheek. MJF's eye twitches.
  • Darby decides to put Ciampa on the timekeeper's table and jump clear from the ring post onto him. Not sure why. Ciampa is busted open crawling his way back to the ring so Darby throws himself at him at ringside.
    • Ciampa proceeds to hit a Psycho Driller off the top to the fucking floor like 5 minutes later. He's at like a 0.8 on the Muta Scale. Darby is dead.
    • These two go to fucking war. Darby escapes two of Ciampa's bony ass knees and has to wrench on the Scorpion Death Lock to get the tapout. Darby offers a handshake after the match and Ciampa relents before taking the belt and putting it over Darby's shoulder.
  • BRODY KING is back. He says he was serious when he said he was proud of Darby; he talked to Tony Khan, and if Darby signs off on it, Brody wants his shot at the belt on Dynamite next week. Darby nods.
